Most real wood furniture is glued up from 6" - 8" wide boards. Even at just 10" wide it is considered a premium as trees always grow tall, but seldom grow wide. Wider slabs come from old growth, rare trees and are priced accordingly. Hauling, milling, flattening and drying costs are all included into the prices.
